On the dried seabed of the Aral Sea, an old fisherman sails a ghost fleet of memories.
The Aralkum is the world’s youngest desert — it used to be a sea. Between rusting trawlers and salt storms, a former fisherman narrates voyages that can no longer be taken, while the filmmakers weave Soviet propaganda reels into the dunes.

We filmed a sea that exists only in verbs. He kept saying 'we sail', never 'we sailed'.
