In Vienna’s Favoriten district, teacher Ilkay Idiskut runs a classroom where German is almost nobody’s first language. Beckermann films the children from second to fourth grade — arguing about God, practicing cartwheels, learning to read — with a patience that turns a school into a portrait of a continent.
