17. MakeDox unveils the Onion competition lineup

Ten films will compete for this year’s Onion Award, the festival’s main prize for mid- and full-length creative documentary. The selection travels from the Šar Mountains to the halls of the United Nations: Stefan Malešević’s Soil and Wings, Petra Seliškar’s The Mountain Won’t Move, Johan Grimonprez’s Oscar-nominated Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat, Arthur Franck’s The Helsinki Effect, Peter Kerekes’ Wishing on a Star and Ruth Beckermann’s Favoriten lead a program of ten titles from fourteen countries.

Ten films, one rule: every good film makes you cry a little.

Screenings run 20–27 August at Kurshumli An, Cinema Frosina and the MKC Courtyard. The full schedule, with Q&A sessions marked, is now live on the program pages. Tickets go on sale 1 August at the venue box offices and online.
