In Tbilisi, a young mother rents out her body as a surrogate to buy her daughter a home.
Zhana has been homeless since she was seventeen. Surrogacy — legal, lucrative and ruthlessly transactional in Georgia — looks like the only exit. Vashagashvili films her through two pregnancies and nine apartments, holding the ethical questions up to the light without ever letting go of Zhana’s hand.
A first feature of startling intimacy about what a body is worth when nothing else is yours.

In my country a womb can be a workplace. I wanted the audience to sit with that sentence for 77 minutes.
